Department is a music supervision and music rights consultancy for film, TV and content producers. We source, commission and licence music for any form of moving image, from shorts and one-off projects, to features and long-running series. Our work ranges from supervising single productions to overseeing music across an entire company slate.

We combine a restless passion for music and production with decades of industry knowledge and experience. We collaborate with music and production creatives to deliver soundtracks that add drama, energy, and emotion. And we handle the deal-making, work with Business Affairs teams on contracting and oversee post-production and delivery.

Department was set-up by Danny Layton and Ross Sellwood, who between them have over 30 years experience as music supervisors and HoD’s, working on high-profile drama series, comedy and feature films, as well as award winning documentaries and factual formats. Before setting up Department, Danny was the Global Director of Music for Endemol Shine Group and Ross ran Globe Soundtrack & Score for Universal Music, based at Abbey Road Studios.
